Bump-BUM!!!!

After what can only be described as a really crummy day, I get home and turn on the Tube. There's an episode of Law and Order: SVU on cable. As I get my bearings mid-episode, I see it's about a dead astronaut. A fellow starship trooper, a Marine colonel, is helping with the investigation, played by that jerk married to Mecha-Streisand. Apparently, he is an old friend of Detective Stabler (also a former Marine, a fact that get mentioned every time the writers want to make an unfavorable comparison to college hazing or serial killers).

After less than five mid-ep minutes, as soon as I see who's who, I turn it off. "Don't do this to yourself," the voice comes. "It's Law and Order. None of the L&O shows ever make the military a part of the plot unless it's to make us look bad: The professional officer, the service, the system... The Marine colonel is the killer; you know that's how they always write this stuff. Don't piss yourself off by letting them insult you, yet again."

Part of me wants to listen to the voice. But I turn it back on at 8:51. Sure enough, I get to see the last fistfight between the two "Marines", and the colonel led away in handcuffs, looking up at the moon he never got to walk on.

I. Hate. NBC.
