I don't claim that I'm the most environmentally conscious person around, but I do not litter, regardless of whether I'm in a national park or on 11th Avenue. I will walk to the end of the block so that I can put my Snapple bottle in the recycle bin or trash can at the corner. It's just me.
Like the commenter said, this video, which used to run on Sesame Street when I was little, is probably why. I don't know if it was the melody or the images of what the world would be like, but it always stuck in my mind.
Of course, it also popped into my head on my ConLaw final when I got to the question about Wickard v. Filburn...
